South Pacific Trip

South Pacific Trip

In late July and early August 2008, we went to Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.
Background: In 1972-73, when Randy was 8 years old, his dad Howard Wilson took a leave of absence from Oregon State University to be the chairman of the math department at the Teacher’s College in Goroka, Papua New Guinea. Randy’s mom Virginia, plus their three kids Cheryl, Randy, and Brian, went along. You can see some of the photos from our 72-73 trip at Brian’s page here.
Early in 2008, Brian, who is full-on insane, decided we should all go back. So we did, and we brought along the rest of the extended family. There are lots of other photos of our trip at Brian’s page here (pictures of Echt-Wilsons start about 2/3 down the page).
The families all took different routes to and from Goroka. The Echt-Wilsons went to Fiji first, to sleep off some jet lag on the beach, then went to Goroka and Madang (both in PNG) with all the Wilsons, and ended in Cairns, Australia.
